ABOUT MICHELLE

“I believe in documenting families and creating portraits with museum-grade fine art materials to be displayed in your home. You deserve to be remembered! Portrait photography should preserve your family forever, inspire connection & joy, and bring beauty and love into your home .”

I am a print-based portrait photographer based in Round Rock, Texas who specializes in families, kids, high school seniors, headshots and personal branding in and around the Austin, Texas area.

One of my favorite things is researching my family’s genealogy and being the curator of our historical portrait collection. My greatest discovery so far was that my next-door neighbor and friend of five years was actually my cousin!

Born and raised in Austin, I earned a photojournalism degree at the University of Texas after initially studying architecture for the first two years of college. I was recruited out of college by The Miami Herald, and I had a successful career as an award-winning newspaper photographer, reporter, and photo editor at some of the nation's top publications.

While at The Miami Herald, I was part of the editorial staff awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Public Service for coverage of Hurricane Andrew. As Director of Photography for four Chicago suburban daily papers, I had the privilege of working with a very talented staff, including two Newspaper Photographers of the Year.

In 2004 I returned home to Austin and launched a wedding photojournalism business, but temporarily put down my camera in 2006 to start a family. My husband Robert and I now have three children ages 11 to 16 years old.
